Why “Laniakea”?

Laniakea is a Hawaiian word that means “immense heaven”, “open skies”, or wide horizons”. It was chosen for the galaxy supercluster home to the Milky Way, honoring Polynesian navigators who used knowledge of the sky to navigate the Pacific Ocean.

Just like these navigators looked to the skies, we use our expertise in economic principles, financial modeling and technology as our guiding stars to navigate the complex “ocean” of financial markets. Our name reflects our commitment to seeing the bigger picture and looking beyond the immediate horizon. It is a constant reminder to extend our perspective, understand the rapid changes shaping the world, and identify future opportunities.

About the founder

I founded Laniakea Research after over a decade in institutional finance, specializing in financial valuation, economics and M&A. My career has been defined by rigorous, bottom-up financial modeling, but my passion has always been the technology itself.

I created this platform to fuse those two interests: applying the discipline of professional analysis to the tech I love. My goal is to provide sophisticated, data-driven insights that differentiate hype from reality and help individual investors form their own investment decisions.
